About Your Instructor
I am Barbara Summa– Founder of Madrelingua, Teacher, Interpreter, and Author
With over 30 years of experience teaching Italian, I am passionate about sharing my love for my homeland with those eager to learn. As a native of Abruzzo, I’ve had the privilege of teaching Italian to countless expats in my language school in Amsterdam, where I’ve learned firsthand what it means to be an expat and to navigate a new culture. This is why my courses are not just about language—they’re about truly understanding the heart and soul of Italy, and especially the rich, untold stories of Abruzzo.
In addition to my work as a teacher and interpreter, I am the author of “Statale 17: Storie Minime Transumanti”, a sentimental guide to the region of Abruzzo that explores its landscapes, traditions, and history with a personal touch. I look forward to sharing not only the beauty of the Italian language but also the beauty of Abruzzo with you.
